The Violin Shop is situated in Blackpool, the Lancashire,
North West England resort. We are located on the first floor
of an Edwardian bank building overlooking the principal square,
and, beyond, the promenade and the north pier. Maybe not the
obvious place to find a shop specialising in the repair, restoration
and dealing of violins, but the business was founded here back
in 1975 and has been nowhere else.
People often travel from all
over the country and abroad to visit our premises and apart from
the showroom and workshops, there are two small trying rooms
where you will be able to spend as long as you need trying various
instruments, with help and advice available if needed.
The Violin Shop was
started by the ex-Hallé violinist Harry George and the
business is now run by Kevin, his son and Kathy, Kevin's wife.
The chief violin repairer has also been with the business nearly
from the start, but the chief bow rehairer and the specialist
in retouching varnish, Kevin's sister Karen, have been here for
many years now.
We are always interested
in purchasing good old violins, violas, 'cellos and bows.
Opening hours: Tuesday - Saturday
from 9.00 - 5.00. Closed all day on Christmas Day, Easter Day,
The Violin Shop is moving
to new premises in Poulton-le-Fylde, much more quiet and peaceful.
We are very near to the railway station and parking will be much
easier and nearer.
We will be closing on Saturday
27th July, 2019, for the big move. We will be reopening Saturday
August 3rd, in our new premises:
11 Station Court,
27-29 Station Rd,
We hope to see you there.
